Inspired in traditional jewellery, designed by us and handmade by eThnoPur artisans in Bali workshop. We aim to support local artisans and to keep traditional techniques alive. Inspiration: According to Indian beliefs, the turban is a symbol of manhood and dignity. It also denotes virtue, respect and brotherhood. All men used to wear turbans, but since Mughal times the adornments for the turban, such as the Kalgi or Sarpech, were reserved exclusively for honorable members of society. They gained a jewelled Heron´s feather as recognition for excellence, Honor and high status. The feather was pinned to the front of the turbans. A pearl or precious stone was applied to the end in order to curve the feather backwards or sidewards, thereby creating a harmonic arc. The feathers thus resembled the long plumes found on the heads of some Indian birds.
