Clio Anastasiou grew up in Cyprus but currently resides in Cardiff, Wales, where 'Anastasiou Designs' was born. Clio has a background in architecture but that all changed when she discovered her passion for all things wood! Using her woodturning skills, Clio wanted to promote a different way of seeing, of a material that is otherwise taken for granted, through the creation of contemporary woodturned homeware. All products are handmade and inspired by the celebration of nature. Anastasiou strives to pay respect to the natural form of wood and to focus on the raw qualities of the grain. To achieve this, she experiment with scale, as well as the combination of locally sourced wood and resin, to create material hybrids and preserve nature in time. All wood is locally and sustainably sourced and waste is minimised by creating smaller products out of offcuts, which makes each item truly one off and unique.

EcoSlurps is an award winning british startup focused on providing eco friendly alternatives to single use plastic products. The majority of our product packaging contains messaging around our reforestation programs where we plant trees daily to offset our carbon footprint and drive our business towards carbon neutral status. Welcome to Home Scentsations! My name’s Cait and I created HS during the first lockdown of 2020. I have always loved candles; from the way they can instantly create a homely vibe to the memories they bring with a strike of a match. After a few years I began to get increasingly annoyed at how much money I was spending on home fragrance – which ironically, held hardly any fragrance at all! Once I started looking into this more and more, I realised how many harmful toxins came with buying the “high end”, “designer” candles – many of which use paraffin wax. When it came to scent though, I was still having the same problem as before. The candles just weren’t filling the room as nicely as I wanted them to. So… I decided to give it a go at making my own! This only started as making candles for my own benefit and for friends and family. But why not give selling them a go and making other people happy as well?!

Feeling the immediate positive effects the oils had on his mental wellbeing and wanting to ensure it wasn’t a placebo effect, Marc spent years reading journals and research papers, meeting with industry leaders, university researchers and aromatherapy experts,. Tahlia started her business from the Welsh countryside last year, after graduating University. Her love for animals and surface pattern inspired the Nature Collection, featuring the images of endangered woodland creatures. She now works on new products to join the product line, and new patterns to feature on them, still inspired by nature and the creatures around the Welsh woodlands. Fun Fact: the Hedgehog product line started with a trail camera! Tahlia wanted to research Hedgehogs in her local area so put a trail camera, some food and water, and a little hedgehog house outside for months until finally a hedgehog moved in! She then watched and monitored her new friend through the summer, and developed sketches from the photos captured, which went on to inspire the Hedgehog pattern collection. The hedgehog pattern also won second place in the Wildlife Trusts Climate Change contest last year.

Sometimes things just happen; I never intended to start a skincare brand, but here I am 5 years later with a growing little business, surrounded by friends and doing something that is having a gentle but positive impact. I think that the natural world provides all we need for our skin. We carefully blend quality and ethically sourced ingredients because it makes good sense to us to look after the world around us and leave as light a footprint as possible.
