Raku firing!! Come explore glaze making and raku firing and walk away with two unique and priceless pieces of ceramics on the day.

Good to Know

Raku generally refers to a type of low-firing process that was inspired by traditional Japanese raku firing. Western-style raku usually involves removing pottery from the kiln while at bright red heat and placing it into containers with combustible materials.

You will learn the art of raku and gain a new found love for glazing and firing the raku.

You have the option of picking two of our pre made handthrown pieces which you can glaze and will be able to take home on the day.

Good time, but we were too many people, 15 in total and we ended up using the lathe only 1 hour out of 2.

Good, friendly staff on hand to help and we could make as many pieces as we wanted within the timeframe. It was a bit overcrowded when we went and too many students per staff and not enough equipment e.g only had 1 pot of glue between about 15 of us. However a fun, creative experience and would go again. Power cut to the building so we will go back for the wheel part.

Great experience. Power cut to the building so going back for the wheel portion but the hand sculpting was a lot of fun (and very relaxing). Would go again 100%. The people hosting were super friendly and helpful.

Had an amazing time at the Art in the Park studio! Nam is a fantastic host with a great energy; he's very willing to help and offer advice. My pottery skills may still need (a lot of) work but I'll definitely be booking with Creoate again!

I had such a great time learning to throw and hand build pottery - both the instructors were very helpful when crafting and gave me guidance when needed. They also showed me different ways to decorate them and I could explore many ways of crafting my own pot

I really enjoyed the whole experience, Nam and Susie were both lovely teachers and it was great that we got to experience wheel throwing and hand building.

I thoroughly enjoyed the pottery class. It was very relaxed, and the tutor was great! It was a therapeutic couple of hours, and I can't wait to get my pots back in a couple weeks!

It was a lovely experience. Coiling and throwing on the motored wheel. My friends and I loved it

It's cheaper than therapy and just as calming! And you get a one of a kind wonky piece of art at the end of it to remind you that sometimes you need to slow down and have some fun with some mud.  Great tutor. He was clear, went at a good speed and encouraged you to try something different. Loved the emphasis on slowing down and letting your inner potter come out!! Recommend. Could have done this for hours...

My friends and I were 'bowled' over by Nnams and this pottery class. Nam was a great instructor, educating us about all things pottery & pottery philosophy. He gave really easy step by step instructions on how to shape clay and throwing on the wheel. Learning how to do pottery was a great bonding experience with my friends and Nam offered a really good structured session in which to do this. Nam also offered for us to a private session which was amazing of him and made it even more special. Recommend this class to everyone interested wanting to make a start with pottery.

Nam is a good "coach", everything is clearly explained and i feel like learning a new sport. Two hours is very short for a ceramic class and to create anything that's worth to keep, as he said it takes 8-10 hrs of practice to pick up the throwing skill, but it definitely served the purpose of a tasting class in ceramic.

Nam was a great teacher so good that we actually had some pottery to take home with us!!! Highly recommended!

Nam was just brilliant at inspiring and teaching his students and everyone enjoyed themselves.
I'm really looking forward to seeing my creations glazed and picking them up soon!!

Not enough tools, only one pot of glue per table. However attentive staff. Could have also been given more guidance on making individual pieces. However a fun and worthwhile experience with friendly people.

The workshop was ok but no better. For starters the workshop was only supposed to have 6 people but they had accidentally manage to oversell and there were 11 of us. We started late because Nam hadn't turned up and the women running the class didn't have the keys. The two women running the class were very nice and said they'd just run the class a bit longer but then half way through another women came in and said the class had to end at the original end time (despite starting late) because another class was coming. This meant that the second half was very short, with just 25m actually using the wheel. Not only this but I didn't think the instructor on the wheel was very clear in her instruction, we didn't really feel like we knew why we were doing what we were asked and rather than being allowed to try it out the instructor and the woman who had came in late seemed to be keen to just do the job for us in a bid to get us finished in time. I was well aware this was a taster course but I don't think it was well facilitated. The hand building actually ended up being the more enjoyable part, with a better instructor and a clearer understanding of why we were doing what we were doing, the second half was a bit of a mess.

This class started so well.  Nam was our instructor (from the Great Pottery Throw Down program) and for the first two weeks taught an enthusiastic group of learners.  However, Nam did not show up for week three (he was supposed to) and we were left with an instructor with little experience.  Our fourth week was focused on glazing and at an almost impossible to find other location.  Most of the pieces I had thrown did not make it from the first studio.  Our instructor was new to pottery herself and while enthusiastic, we were simply left to paint odd bits of pottery.  And when a few weeks later we collected that pottery, again it was all in a jumble.  Thank goodness my friend and I took pictures of the pieces we glazed.  And finally, glazes were marked incorrectly so I ended up with some horrid colour combinations.  I would not recommend this course to anyone.

This place is great! I loved it so much! The pottery making was fun and it was relaxing when we were throwing on a wheel . Nam was kind enough to let us walk his pug boss with my french bulldog Nala before the workshop. I enjoyed everything we did even though half of the things i made was very weird, i made a groot (Guardians of the Galaxy pot. I am 12 years old and i recommend this workshop, by the way, I was the youngest one there but still enjoyed it. I love this workshop so so so so so so so so so so much and i love the way it is in a park and all the clay is recyclable. this is how much they care about everyone and everything. DOGS ARE ALLOWED! I truly do recommend this to everyone.

Very poor experience. I had booked a class for my hen party and we all arrived as scheduled. Nam didn't show up and didn't answer any of my calls or texts when we were waiting for the class to begin. I still have no explanation for why he was a no-show when it had been confirmed earlier in the week. This was extremely disappointing as we were given no prior notice that the class was cancelled and had all travelled to get there on time.  However, Creoate's service has been exceptional and they are refunding us for this class.
