Description
Cumin is one of the most emblematic spices, those for which explorers crossed the globe in the hope of bringing back some seeds to sow in the royal gardens.
Centuries have passed, today cumin is widespread all over the world. It retains a prominent place in oriental cuisine, both Arabic and Asian, and it is an integral part of the most famous spice blends such as curry or raz el hanout .
Often sold in powder of variable quality, we preferred to offer you a magnificent cumin in whole seeds , to ensure freshness and intensity. It is also certified organic.
Indescribable, its flavor is nevertheless dominant. It is credited with earthy and comforting, warm notes, a slight acridity.
In which dish to use cumin?
The essentials first of all: a tajine , a couscous , carrots with cumin... and traveling a little further east why not try some falafel or rice pilaf ?
Finally, to get off the beaten track, make your homemade rolls with grilled spices!
How to use it ?
Cumin is versatile. You can incorporate the whole seeds into your preparation, or coarsely crush them if you want to release more aromas. You can also grind it completely if the variations in texture in the mouth scare you.
Finally, connoisseurs will advise you to roast your cumin seeds for a few minutes in a frying pan without fat before using them. Their taste will take on another dimension, with notes of grilled and smoked spices, and will reinforce their texture to make them crispy as desired.
Our organic cumin is available in 50 g and 100 g glass bottles, or in 250 g refill sachets. Store it in a dry and cool place, away from light. Cumin does not expire, but we recommend using it within 24 months to preserve all the intensity of its aromas.
