Description

This wall decoration won't go unnoticed in your home, and will definitely be a talking point! It's a traditional hand loom used for making textiles. It comes with a shuttle and some extra wool so you could continue making the pattern if you knew how! Dimensions: 50 x 70 cm (measurements are approximate and may vary) Who made it: This loom has been made by hand by men in Cusco prison, Peru. They set the prices for their work and we don't haggle. The motif in this loom is called Loraypo and it's the traditional motif of the Chinchero region, near Cuzco, in Peru. It's named after a medicinal plant used to treat inflammation. The two circles represent the two lakes in the region, Piuray and Huaypo. The shape that looks like an S is called Cuty and represents the tool used to work the land. The zigzags represent the paths towards the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The dots represent the eyes of the animals they breed, and the little triangles represent the mountains. By buying from us, you help artisans and women in rural communities in the Peruvian Andes achieve economic independence. Step by step we're making a difference together.
