Our beautifully colourful shopping bag is the ultimate in sustainable style. Made from recycled rags it not only looks great, but helps fight global waste. This bag keeps it simple, with one large compartment for all your daily essentials, as well as anything that catches your eye while you’re out. The shoulder straps are sturdy and wide for comfortable carrying over your shoulder. The colourful fabric woven into the design comes from discarded offcuts from the huge garment industry in India. The structure of the bag is created from jute, a natural fibre known for its durability. Jute is an incredibly sustainable material as the plant reaches maturity quickly, grows without the use of fertilizers and pesticides, relies on natural rainfall, and best of all, is completely biodegradable and recyclable. Due to the handmade nature of our products the colours and designs may vary, but loveliness comes as standard. Made from jute and cotton rags that have been left over from the garment industry. These products are expertly handcrafted by TARA Projects (Trade Alternative Reform Action), a World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO) and founding Fair Trade Forum India member. Established in the early 1970s, they are dedicated to creating opportunities and support for economically disadvantaged home-based artisans and crafts people in Delhi. Over the years the project has extended its work into the adjoining states of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan. The project provides services to enable the production and marketing of handicrafts following Fair Trade principles, as well as providing education and support to empower their grassroots artisans. The heart of their work is dedicated to eradicating poverty, by fighting against exploitation and illiteracy amongst their producers and working communities.
