The art/design team of Jackie Piper and Victoria Whitbread have a shared love of colour and material exploration. Discovering an old colour dictionary in a thrift shop began a journey to re-establish this long, forgotten brand. A treasure trove of colour & rich history, revived in 2017; first established in 1931. All their designs are created in-house in London and have a Fair Trade, sustainable or eco provenance. At art college, they knew a little bit about this defunct, colour system, created nearly a Century ago. Falling out of use in the 1960’s and super-ceded by both RAL and then Pantone - it simply became irrelevant. Wonderful colours and names; Adonis Blue, Falcon and Malmaison Rose to name just a few, were too good to be forgotten! Their enduring interest in colour, led to rummaging in archives for further source material, which turned up book after book of beautiful vintage colours, names and numbers; but with nothing to use from a digital perspective. Once upon a time... ... the simple story of a girafe born on May 25th in the year 1961, Saint Sophie's day. In those days, the only animal toys available were farm animals and pet figures ... That is why one day in France, a certain Monsieur RAMPEAU, who was an expert in transforming the latex from the HEVEA tree using the rotational molding of rubber as a toy-making concept, came up with the idea of designing a giraffe. Such an exotic wildlife figure would be a first on the market, and its size and shape would be ideal for a baby's small hand to grasp. Sophie la girafe, who looked exactly the same than she does today, went into production on a Thursday, May 25th, hence her name. She was an immediate success. Young parents immediately recognized that she was a must for their baby... When the first signs of teething appear, Sophie la girafe helps babies stop crying!

Deanna Steiner is a ceramic artist from Morganton, NC. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English (Journalism and Education) and a Bachelor of Science in Design. She took her first wheel throwing class at a city run arts center in Raleigh, NC in 1998. Over the years, she has taken many workshops and classes to improve her pottery making skills. She has also taken classes to develop other creative outlets such as jewelry making and painting. After leaving her position as a user interface designer at IBM, she opened Fig & Owl Studio llc in 2020. Since then, she has devoted her time and energy to her ceramic art practice. Her main body of work is hand built, but she still uses the wheel on occasion. Hand building frees her to add more texture to her work and explore different construction techniques. She has an eclectic aesthetic that combines modern, historical, and organic elements. The resulting objects have a classic feel with a modern appeal. She uses a simple color palette, but embellis

Unique Contemporary Ceramics handcrafted in West Berkshire, UK Recent Press Features Include: 'House Beautiful' Magazine World of Interiors Olive Magazine My focus is on functional ceramics for the modern home, robust enough for daily use, but also design focused and distinct in form and finish. I work mainly with stoneware clay on the wheel but also create hand-built items with a more organic feel. I love the tactile nature of clay and enjoy working with textured clay bodies. I like to keep my glazes playful, and use colours ranging from calming aqua hues to bursts of bright colours here and there. My work is very much connected to the nature surrounding me, and I am inspired by the changing seasons outside my studio door here in rural Berkshire. All orders are crafted with love and care once placed, and will take between 2 - 6 weeks depending on the quantity. Thank you. Jenny

Maia Ming Fong was born in Hawaii, grew up in Italy and is currently based in Barcelona. She has been a designer/maker her whole life and has a particular passion for ceramics. Maia studied Product Design at Stanford University and has helped numerous companies create amazing products. When her children were young, Maia took a pottery class with them and re-entered the world of ceramics. She began forming small pieces on the wheel and then adapting them by hand. This led to group and solo exhibits and greater demand for her work. Eventually, Maia began using slip cast molds to reproduce her ceramic designs in small series. Inspired by her Asian and Scandinavian heritage, Maia’s lifestyle ceramics focus on simple pleasures in the home. Contemporary classics, with a tactile and whimsical flair, her ceramic designs are simple, functional and beautiful Beauty. Texture. Whimsy. Simple pleasures in daily rituals.
The ability to craft an object from the materials found beneath our feet is what drives my passion to create. Based just outside The Cotswolds; I explore the use of clay with throwing functional pieces, for everyday use and handbuilding organic sculptures. Hand thrown pieces includes; soap dishes, plates, bowls, mugs, and beakers etc. My pieces are colourful, with unique glazes that make them desirable to hold and use. Large scale organic sculptures are informed by objects collected from the shore; objects altered and changed through their journey across the sea. Through balance, texture and a blend of glazes, these sculptures encourage discussion and draw the viewer into an extra-terrestrial world. I graduated from Cardiff Metropolitan University with a first class degree in Ceramics in 2017. I was a Graduate Ceramic Intern for two years following my degree, where I taught ceramics at a school in Somerset. My business is in its third year now.

Drawing inspiration from popular wildlife I create illustrative and distinctive homewares, stationery and gifts. Other products printed with my artwork are available to buy from my UK licensee, Parkwood Springs. Working closely with them my nature-themed drawings adorn a wide variety of sustainably and ethically made gifts, all of which have been produced in the UK. Ever since I was a child I’ve been fascinated with animals. I love observing them and watching how they interact with others and studying their appearances and often human-like tendencies and characteristics. Inspired by this I’ve designed beautifully artistic and practical gifts for the style-conscious animal and/or art lover! In capturing the sense of tranquillity in nature and wildlife, I like to think my products give people a little piece of the countryside wherever they go.

Clio Anastasiou grew up in Cyprus but currently resides in Cardiff, Wales, where 'Anastasiou Designs' was born. Clio has a background in architecture but that all changed when she discovered her passion for all things wood! Using her woodturning skills, Clio wanted to promote a different way of seeing, of a material that is otherwise taken for granted, through the creation of contemporary woodturned homeware. All products are handmade and inspired by the celebration of nature. Anastasiou strives to pay respect to the natural form of wood and to focus on the raw qualities of the grain. To achieve this, she experiment with scale, as well as the combination of locally sourced wood and resin, to create material hybrids and preserve nature in time. All wood is locally and sustainably sourced and waste is minimised by creating smaller products out of offcuts, which makes each item truly one off and unique.
We focused on interior designs, working for customers around the globe! primarily focuses on minimalist designs. Goiaba principles originated from Japan and Scandinavian understanding of design with calm color tones and light-filled spaces is the main aesthetic.
