At The Basket Room we specialise in handwoven baskets and accessories made in Africa. Since 2014, when co-founder and CEO Holly opened our doors, we have worked directly with female led weaving cooperatives in rural Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania & Zimbabwe to create stunning homeware collections, woven with vibrant colours & unique patterns. From our base in the Cotswolds, UK, we supply over 150 independent retailers worldwide, as well household names in fashion and homeware including Burford Garden Company, Toast, John Lewis and Lush. Our main goal is to create access to market for the talented women we partner with, providing them with a sustainable income and the recognition they deserve, whilst preserving age-old traditional techniques. Many of the weavers rely on subsistence farming, but when crops fail during dry periods, they turn to the art of weaving as an essential alternative revenue.
