Description
Long days in the field lead to rough chapped hands, hours of moving the hives around lead to hands that eventually look like sand paper. To make matters worse, the bee stings can blow up your hands like a balloon and make them itch like crazy. Well at the time we had a small line of soaps and lip balms, but no cream. My wife would comment on my hands and tell me that it was time to make a cream that would alleviate my rough beaten skin, but also soothe my bee stings. Challenge accepted, I started to do the research on what makes a great unscented hand cream.
Unlike the store bought cream my wife was using I wanted really moisturizing ingredients but also ones that would soothe my hands from the bee stings I would get. Of course my first instinct as always was to look to the hive. One ingredient that stood out to me was propolis. Propolis is the stuff that bees use to “glue” the hive together, but this “glue” has more to it. Propolis is collected from tree resins, leaf buds and tree sap. The bees then mix the collected resins with wax, honey, and enzymes from their stomachs to turn it into the substance we know as propolis, which even contains about 10% essential oil. It's amazing that more people don't know about this bee miracle. Not only has Propolis been used in ancient times as a healing agent, Aristotle, who is said to have coined the word, took advantage of its antiseptic properties. Now skip to present day; Propolis is being used as an amazing anti-inflammatory on skin and can even help exfoliate skin without using harsh acids. Tell them what else they have will get in our cream Johnny… Other great ingredients we have included is this fantastic Unscented Hand Cream are honey and cupuacu butter, which help the skin retain and keep moisture; Beeswax, which locks in moisture, while still letting the skin breath, and Silk protein, which is similar to that of the collagen fibers that naturally increases the elasticity of skin, prevents wrinkles, and tightens skin.
Now with all that goodness included in this cream we decided that this particular one didn't need any fragrance so we made it an unscented hand cream.
