The pages are created from khadda paper (also known as kaddi or khaddi). Mango trees have an incredibly long life, but eventually stop bearing fruit and are replaced by younger trees. As India produces, by far, the most mangos in the world, this results in a huge industry using one of the most sustainable woods known to man.

Our frames are made entirely by hand using traditional skills handed down from one generation to the next. The front is crafted from individual resin tiles, painted and pieced together to create the unique design. The structure of the frame is crafted from mango wood. Mango trees have an incredibly long life, but eventually stop bearing fruit and are replaced by younger trees. As India produces, by far, the most mangos in the world, this results in a huge industry using one of the most sustainable woods known to man.

Each holder is filled with approximately 100 multicoloured pages of handmade elephant dung paper._x000D__x000D_Dimensions: 10 x 10 cm_x000D__x000D_Our elephant dung stationery is hand crafted from 25% recycled paper and 75% elephant dung, meaning there can be some variation in the texture and shade of the paper covers depending on their diet. Each one is truly as unique as the elephant that helped to create it! The paper is acid-free and coloured with only natural dyes._x000D__x000D_The process of making elephant dung paper is a little different from making regular handmade paper. The fibres are pulped by the elephant, instead of by hand or machine, whilst they are digesting, then the readymade pulp comes out the back!_x000D__x000D_Due to the handmade nature of our products the colours and designs may vary, but loveliness comes as standard._x000D__x000D_The products in our elephant dung range are made by skilled and creative artisans using elephant dung paper from the Maximus Elephant Conservation Trust._x000D__x000D_The ultimate in recycling, elephant dung is collected and boiled to sterilise it before the paper-making process.
