Description

Barbara Castle (1910-2002) was one of the most significant Labour politicians of the 20th century. She was MP for Blackburn from 1945-1979, making her the longest serving female MP in the History of the House of Commons until that record was broken in 2007. She was Secretary of State for Employment and First Secretary of State and she introcduced the Equal Pay Act 1970.
