I’m Jenny, a working Mum of two living in South West London and have recently set up Make Me Neon. I returned to my project manager job in March at the UK’s dental regulator after my second round of maternity leave and after 12 years at the same organisation I realised I didn’t have the same enthusiasm for work as I did before and with the threat of redundancy looming I decided to do something that I could feel passionate about. During my career I’ve had lots of experience of running training sessions and workshops so I thought I’d put those skills to good use and teach art classes rather than giving training to dentists which isn’t something to get overly excited about! I offer three hour classes where clients can come and make their own neon style art work. The class price is £35 and it includes tuition, all materials including a 40x50cm artist canvas and 2m LED neon wire in either green, pink or blue as well as a glass of bubbly. The neon wire is battery powered so there’s no need for any unsightly wires like traditional neon. Clients can make anything they want (as long as it doesn’t involve sharp edges as they don’t really work in neon) but I also provide templates like lightning bolts, palm trees and cacti for those that need a bit of inspiration.
