Description

ARTIST Ugoku Movement DETAILS Single-sided print 70 x 100cm PAPER AND PRODUCTION 100gr PurePrint uncoated paper, FSC certified. Offset printed Chemical-free ink and paper Cradle-to-cradle: 100% biodegradable and CO2 neutral Produced in Denmark Copenhagen-based Louise Linder is the founder of Uguko Movement. She is working with abstract brush paintings with a clear dark-light contrast. Primarily Louise is inspired by the Asian culture, in particular traditional calligraphy. Louise regards her work to be an exploration of intuition. She believes that we more than ever have a need to listen to our gut feelings and let us be guided by intuition rather than rationality only. But it requires strength, self-empowerment and training to follow the mind that comes into play when one gives slip - and let intuition take the lead.
"It takes a long time before the mind loosens its grip, then letting intuition lead the brush. Therefore, there is something meditative about my paintings, which is about releasing control both mentally and physically. It is a challenge to use my intuition to stop in time, before the painting turns completely black. Usually Louise only works in originals but for the collection she experimented with creating three motives with distinctly different feel by using different brushes and techniques as well as self-mixed inks. In Japanese, Ugoku means "moving" or being "moved". It's a fascinating word because I understand the movement as something positive that helps to develop and change us as human beings at all levels. I hope my work can depict this feeling to the viewer and the desire to live more simply. But, of course, it's up to the individual to interpret.“

Our Mission: We make giving a gift more personal. We believe that giving a gift is much more than just a simple act. Gifting is an intimate process of joy, excitement and appreciation between people. It is the essence of relationships in a single gesture. We want to pay tribute to gifting by enabling people to express themselves in that process. We challenge the status quo of gift wrapping by curating designs. We create the perfect wrapping that makes a gift out of the ordinary. For our papers, every possible cut of the motive has to make an interesting gift. We are not limiting ourselves in the choice of artistic craft - the composition and appearance defines whether a motive works for gift wrapping or not. Our papers are of high quality and produced with a cradle-to-cradle philosophy. We care about nature - and believe that sustainable everyday products are of essence.
