On this three-hour course, you’ll design and make your own bespoke leather espadrilles with our social enterprise studio!

Good to Know

Experienced makers will offer expert instruction and support, taking you through the various steps to design, size, cut and stitch your own pair of reclaimed leather shoes.

You will start by choosing from the stock of leather reclaimed from local factory offcuts and vegan upcycled materials. You will then choose your style and cut out the pattern for your shoe (choose from a full shoe, slide, or sandal styles). You will learn to shape and pin the shoe to the sole and finally hand-stitch the leather to the sole with waxed linen thread. A wide range of colours, textures, and patterns will be available for you to use. All materials and tools are provided, and the shoes include the use premium jute soles sourced from southern Spain, which are thicker, more robust, and comfier than any other espadrille sole, so you’ll be sure to love wearing your shoes. Each workshop includes drinks, snacks, and local lunch from the farm.

Do Good, Feel Good

Reduce your carbon footprint by bringing back to life reclaimed leather offcuts or vegan materials and contribute to this social enterprise that employs passionate and local women. Leave the session with your upcycled creation and a proud feeling for contributing to a more sustainable world.

I love my gorgeous slides and Joanna and the team were fabulous hosts! The experience was really enjoyable, chatting with and meeting the other guests. The process of making itself was also surprisingly straightforward and really therapeutic once you get to the sewing stage! The only 'bad' thing is having to decide on a colour from the gorgeous range of material, so I am definitely planning on making a second pair 🙂

I went to the Queen of Hoxton workshop which is great - there's nothing like being able to tell people you're spending a Saturday making a pair of shoes in a Moroccan Medina on the roof of a bar in shoreditch!! I love my shoes and all of the ladies were so lovely, helping us pick colours, teaching us the whole process and even helping me alter mine a little to ensure they fitted me properly (as usually these kinds of shoes come up too loose on me) - my friends and I were a little slower than the rest of the group but Joanna and the women stayed to help us finish for an extra hour! Would definitely recommend doing this workshop, thank you Juta shoes and Creoate!

In love with my new, cozy and bespoke Vegan Slippers!

The workshop went by in the blink of an eye, but we all could finish and take home our handmade slides.

10/10 for the hosts that made sure that we were comfortable and having a nice time, shared their story and helped us with the techniques and advised us with the designs. I felt like a fashion designer for a day, and got so many compliments on my new shoes right away since I had to show them off for not having a bag ;) Thank you very much!

Really loved the workshop at the Queen of Hoxton! Everyone working was great, really patient and good fun. Amazing company with a great ethos and product!! Our group all left with shoes we love and are proud of, so thank you.
