Make Sustainable Leather Slippers
|All Materials, Guidance, And Refreshments|
Make your own slip-on slides from a selection of reclaimed leather and vegan materials. You’ll learn to shape and pin your reclaimed leather or upcycled vegan slide to the sole and handstitch the upper to the sole with waxed linen thread.
Good to Know
Experienced makers will be on hand to offer expert instruction and support. At the end of the workshop, you’ll walk away with your own bespoke pair of slides.
All leather is reclaimed from local factory offcuts, and there is a wide range of colours, textures, and patterns to choose from. You will use premium jute soles sourced from southern Spain, which are thicker, more robust, and comfier than any other espadrille soles, so you’ll be sure to love wearing your shoes.
Do Good, Feel Good
Reduce your carbon footprint by bringing back to life reclaimed leather offcuts or vegan materials and contribute to this social enterprise that employs passionate and local women.
Leave the session with your upcycled creation and a proud feeling for contributing to a more sustainable world.
The workshop is held at Spitalfields City Farm, near Shoreditch High Street Station. In the warmer months and when the weather is nice, the workshop will take place outside in the kitchen garden. If it’s raining or cold, you’ll be in their lovely yurt with a wood-burning stove.
