During this workshop you'll be rolling out slabs of clay to press into a plaster plate mould. Round plates are the easiest style to make, but there are also some square and tear-drop shaped moulds to choose from. Once you've made your plate, your host will show you how to make a crisp, colourful design using a selection of coloured slips (liquid clays).

You'll have everything you need waiting for you at the studio, including refreshments, lockers for your possessions and room to change. It's best to wear clothes you don't mind getting clay on (it washes out without difficulty) and you'll find the project easier if your nails are well trimmed.
After the workshop, your finished plate will be thoroughly dried, dipped in a clear glaze and twice fired. The clay and glazes we use here are strong and durable, so your finished pieces can be used just like everything else in your kitchen and are dishwasher and microwave safe.

We have visitors from all over London and the UK, so we include a delivery service in our workshops. We use a specialist courier to package and post your work to make sure that it arrives in perfect condition. Your pieces should reach you around three weeks after your workshop and you'll receive tracking details so that you can make sure it arrives at a suitable time.

You may spot that we mark the bottom of your plates with your name and a studio stamp when we fire them. Your plates will need to dry overnight in their moulds, so if you would like to add your own dedication underneath, you can leave it with Odile to add later.

I attended this workshop with 4 friends as part of a Hen Do, Odile was amazing and made the whole experience really enjoyable. Odile coached and encouraged us throughout the whole session and I'm really excited to receive the finished article in the post in the next few weeks. I would definitely recommend this workshop.
