Werther & Gray is a small artisan candle company located in Delaware. The name is derived from Goethe’s The Sorrows of Young Werther, and Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray. These two literary works bookend the Romantic era, and like its namesake, Werther & Gray is rooted in the values of Romanticism, with styles and themes that emphasize timeless beauty, imagination and emotion. Despite its small size, Werther & Gray has shipped candles all over the world and has been stocked by numerous museums, cultural institutions, and boutique gift shops since launching in 2015.

However, toxicity extends beyond wax & most candles contain harmful oils, capable of seriously harming your pets. Symptoms range from excessive drooling and vomiting, to organ failure in pets & headaches & nauseas in humans. Reflecting on years of purchasing candles without considering their impact on our dog Biscuit, we set out on a mission to develop pet-safe products. Through meticulous ingredient selection, only using oils of the highest quality & all whilst ensuring our products are 100% vegan & cruelty-free... Candles that are Pet Friendly emerged and we launched FROM THE ISLAND in 2022; featuring Biscuit's ears as our logo. All our Candles are hand poured on the Island of Mallorca
